Rotating Equipment Planner


The Rotating Equipment Planner is a key role for the success of the Blackstone Industrial Services, the REP will successfully be engaged with all of our field teams and in all aspects of client equipment service. The primary focus is the successful alignment of execution teams and services, ensuring quality, safety and manufacturing performance targets are met while maintaining a healthy culture.

The Turnaround Rotating Equipment (Millwright) Planner is accountable for detailed TA/OH planning, scheduling, cost estimating and control functions in general to maximize production while achieving budgeted targets in a safe, cost effective manner. The REP will engage with all required trade groups, plant engineering, planning to support the completion of the turnaround and work over activities.


  • Perform field inspections and determine the appropriate job work scopes Develop the work plans for the maintenance jobs (using Primavera) with the necessary information to allow efficient scheduling, assignment, and execution of these jobs
  • Create, use, and maintain plant history and other technical files to include information on current job plans to anticipate and avoid job delays
  • Develop cost and time estimates of the planned maintenance work
  • Continually improve the planning, scheduling, purchasing, data management and job reporting systems to increase planning effectiveness and efficiency assuring that the work is planned to meet all important maintenance, construction and start-up dates
  • Maximize resource productivity by identifying parts, materials, special tools, external services, rentals and documentation
  • Preparation of job plans ready for scheduling detailing parts, materials, special tools, external services and documentation with planned costs
  • Identification of safety, EH&S, permit and communication requirements
  • Preparation of job plans to include the sequencing of associated tasks, taking into account multi-craft alignment
  • Maintain and continuously improve job plans
  • Maintain bills of materials (BOM’s)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Exercises good judgment on complex decisions
  • Build good working relationships with plant staff



  • High school diploma or GED is a minimum requirement
  • Journeyman Millwright or Mechanical Technologist


  • Minimum 5 years maintenance or reliability, experience with pumps, compressors, conveying systems, vibrating screens, crushers, turbines and power transmission systems
  • Basic knowledge and experience in predictive technologies such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, ultrasonic and thermography
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication, teamwork, coordination, influencing, organizational skills
  • Commitment to improving the operation and generating revenue enhancement opportunities
  • Self-motivated and leads by example
  • Ability to independently manage a diverse workload with changing priorities
  • Strong understanding of ERP software including SAP/Maximo
  • Strong Microsoft application understanding – Word/Excel/Access

The REP is a nested role within our clients work sites and actively plans all execution activities as defined in the turnaround work scope.
